Pie Eating Competition
Rules:
1. Hands are not Allowed: Contestants must place both hands behind their backs (or keep them tied/gloved behind their backs) for the entirety of the round. Touches or spoon use result in immediate disqualification.
2. Signal Start: Eating may only begin when the head judge gives the official "Go!" signal. Starting early results in a 5-second penalty or restart.
3. Finish Line Definition: A pie is considered "finished" when the tin is cleared of crust and filling to the satisfaction of the designated lane judge.
4. Clean Mouth Check: Upon claiming finish, the contestant must open their mouth to demonstrate that all pie has been swallowed. The timer stops only after the mouth check is passed.
5. No Regurgitation ("De-queaming"): If a contestant vomits or regurgitates during or within 2 minutes following the contest signal, they are automatically disqualified.
6. Water Access: Contestants are provided a single cup of water. Water may only be drunk directly from the cup using teeth/lips—no hands allowed.
7. Utensil Prohibition: Straws, napkins, or utensils are forbidden during active timing.
Judging & Scoring Criteria
First to Finish: The primary winner is the first person to completely clear their pie tin and pass the mouth-swallow check.
Timed Partial Count: If the time limit expires before any contestant completely finishes, lane judges weigh or estimate the remaining pie. The contestant with the least remaining pie weight wins.
Tie-Breaker: In the event of a visual tie at the time whistle, judges inspect tins for cleanliness. The cleaner tin takes the win.
Awards
Winners will receive graved pie slicer, Perkins Holiday Pie flight and major bragging rights!
